A down-sell is what is offered if the upsell is rejected.  The upsell may be rejected because it is too expensive, so a down-sell is generally cheaper.Down-sells may not require a big decision and commitment of the buyer’s time and money. Down-selling lets the would-be lost customers quickly move from prospect to customer.
